O.S.C. Making a Difference in the Community
Orthodontic Specialty Care, O.S.C., headed by Dr. David Lee and team, is making a difference in our community today with charitable programs that enlist the help of patients, as well as an oral health program benefiting grade school children.
One such program is the annual food drive. The office is equipped with receptacles for food donation by the Salvation Army. During the last six years, patients and staff have contributed over 2,200 pounds of food to help feed the hungry in this area.
The “wooden nickel” program is quite popular with both the adult and child patients. When a patient shows proficiency in brushing properly, flossing and making appointments on time, they are awarded two wooden nickels, which have a value of 50 cents each. The patients save their wooden nickels and can either purchase gifts available in the office, or they can donate them to a special collection jar reserved for that year’s charity. Last year the patients donated over 300 wooden nickels. Dr. Lee matched that amount and presented a check to the United Way.
The students of grade schools benefit from the annual oral hygiene program developed at O.S.C. The team provides classroom instruction with complimentary oral hygiene kits and education about dental health to over 1000 students each year.
Orthodontic Specialty Care has served the local community for 15 years. Patients also travel from the outlying communities of Lebanon, Sweet Home, Brownsville, Scio, Corvallis and the coast. Dr. Lee is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association and the Oregon State Society of Orthodontists.
